What’s Blacktop Friday®? It’s our smallest, purest, lowest-frills event; start point is always in (or nearby) BCR’s hometown of Calistoga, CA, and the route’s always built around a ‘concept’ of sorts. Past concepts: DIRT SECTION, CANYONS, and DISTANCE. This year, it’s MOUNTAINS - the route takes us up and down no less than 3 of ‘em, one of which is seeing its BCR debut. The roads (all 100 miles) will be - no hyperbole - epic.
Note: We’ve got a brand-new, super-special start location this year. It’s down a smooth hard-packed road topped with some gravel, so if you drive the automotive equivalent of a Fabergé egg, you may want to sit this one out.
Before the rally, we’ll meet at 8am at an undisclosed start point in Calistoga. At 9am, we’ll take off in 3 groups (HARE, TORTOISE, and SNAIL groups) 5 minutes apart. We’ll land in downtown Yountville just before noon, at which point you can grab lunch, go wine/beer-tasting, shop small businesses, or just head on home. Tickets are $50 (credit cards / Apple Pay). What does your $50 get you? Only this: a parking sticker, an email with starting time, location, and route directions, and an amazing morning out on Northern California’s best backroads with a small crüe of like-minded drivers.
What cars are eligible?
Any 1999 and earlier car, truck, utility vehicle, or van. Additionally, certain 2000 and later cars are welcome to apply- specifically, “enthusiast” models and other “interesting“ vehicles- sports cars, low production runs, unusual/exotic marques, etc. Post-1999 SUVs/CUVs/trucks/minivans are not eligible.*
All applications are subject to review and approval by BCR; in the case your application is not accepted, your ticket fee will be refunded. Ticket is per vehicle - not per person. Share the good times; feel free to bring as many people as your car can safely seat.
*If in doubt your vehicle is eligible, you can check prior to submitting an application - click here.

Additional info:
The registration fee for this event is $50 per vehicle. Once your application is accepted by BCR, there are no refunds; before you click “Purchase Ticket," triple-check that you are available on the date in question and that your car is in working mechanical order for the drive.
This event is rain or shine.
Drivers must be at least 18 years old. Registration is valid for a single driver (named in the registration application).
Co-drivers (18 or over) who deliver a co-driver agreement , navigators, and passengers welcome.
Don’t make us say “no burnouts.” You’re better than that, right?
BCR has a strict “No Suitcasing” policy: this is a drive, not a marketing opportunity. Leave your logos, leaflets, FOR SALE signs, stickers, business cards, flyers, and branded trinkets at home.
The drive begins staging at 9am and will take about 2.5 hrs. Drive at a speed comfortable to you, taking into consideration weather and road conditions, always yield to quicker vehicles, and never pass on a double yellow line.
A link to download turn-by-turn directions will be sent the week of the drive. Read them. Learn them. Know them. Live them. Don’t rely on the person in front of you to know where they’re going- they don’t.
Roads are pretty smooth the whole way; usual bumps and such, nothing major.
Gas up prior to arriving at the starting location; limited gas stations along the route.
Cell reception unavailable in some areas.
People live and work in these areas we drive through. Be courteous to business owners, employees, homeowners, ranchers, cyclists, pedestrians, pets and livestock you encounter- let’s keep BCR welcome in the area.
